Looking for the most HAUNTED location in Boston. JUST LOOK IN THE MIRROR!
Boston has some great haunted landmarks. The King’s Chapel Burying Grounds, The Cutler Majestic Theatre, Faneuil Hall, and the Union Oyster House just to name a few. Chances are you just might see a spirit apparition at any of those locations on any given night.
But if you want to have a truly magical experience head to the classic Omni Parker House Hotel in downtown Boston at Tremont and School Street. Step into the lobby and take one of the golden elevators to the mezzanine level… when the doors open step off… turn to your left and you will come face to face with one of the most haunted artifacts in all of America, The Charles Dicken’s Mirror.
Charles Dickens lived at the Omni Parker House from 1867 to 1868 while he was creating his new work, The Christmas Carol. The large arched mirror on the mezzanine level of the Omni Parker House was in his hotel suite, rooms 138 & 139 during his 6-month stay. Dickens rehearsed his new story in front of that very mirror during the day, and in the evenings, he would perform it to sold-out audiences at a theater next door. Many believe that the ghosts of Tiny Tim, Scrooge, and the spirits of Christmas Past, Present and Future still live in that mirror. Rumor has it that if you stand in front of the mirror and say: “Charles Dickens” three times often the nearby elevator bell will ring… or you may even see the image of Mr. Dickens himself dressed in his rehearsal attire literally appear in the mirror. How spooky is that!
A short walk from the mirror, on the same level, you will find another type of magic taking place on select Saturday Nights. Take a walk to the Longfellow Room where starting on February 11th you can find real magic happening right before your eyes. Miracles & Other Deceptions: The Close-Up Magic of Paul Gertner is a true close-up magic show, which has quickly become one of the top-rated shows in Boston. Miracles & Other Deceptions is in its fifth year and currently has 100% Five Star ratings on both TripAdvisor and Yelp! Before you buy a ticket, check out the reviews. The 75-minute show is performed for an exclusive audience of only 32 people and the magic happens right before your eyes.
